Chance to Lose Control is a collection that explores how visual order and disorder can be explored through the use of control and chance within a textile design process. In this research led collection, generative chance strategies, such as rolling a dice, are used to disrupt the order within a grid structure to prevent the limitations of control. The nature of this research generates new strategies that challenge perfection.
I am a textile designer specialising in constructed tactile surfaces. My design aesthetic has a strong mathematical influence, which is communicated through structure, order and control. My honours project has allowed me to challenge my desire for perfection.
